CGS was commissioned to conduct a Data Protection Impact Assessment for the project Pathways to Education Beyond Borders: Bridging Gaps for Vulnerable Children from Refugee and Host Communities in Aswan.
Acknowledging the heightened risks faced by Sudanese refugee children - many of whom lack legal documentation and are vulnerable to discrimination or deportation - the CGS team undertook a multi-phase Data Protection Impact Assessment ensuring compliance with GDPR and Egyptian regulations, preventing unauthorized access or misuse of sensitive educational, health, and family data, and building trust through culturally sensitive communication about data handling.
The assessment applied the DPIA's necessity and proportionality principles by collecting only essential information and aligning security measures - encryption, limited retention, and controlled access - with data sensitivity, enabling responsible data management while safeguarding beneficiaries' rights and dignity.
