Data Collection & Management

Quantitative and qualitative field data collection, with quality assurance and documented datasets.

Data collection covers the design of instruments, the fieldwork itself, and the handling of the data that results. CGS runs collection at scale across multiple governorates, and for smaller qualitative exercises where depth matters more than sample size.

Work is delivered either as a standalone service to organisations running their own analysis, or as the field component of a wider study.

What it includes

  • Instrument design and translation
  • Sampling frame and enumerator recruitment
  • Enumerator training and piloting
  • Supervised fieldwork with back-checks
  • Data cleaning, coding and documentation
  • Cleaned datasets with a codebook

Our approach

Instruments are piloted before full deployment and revised on what the pilot shows. Enumerators are trained on the instrument they will use, not on a generic module.

Quality assurance runs during fieldwork rather than after it: supervision, back-checks and consistency checks while collection is still open, so problems can be corrected in the field.
